The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is a multi-disciplinary organization engaged in urban planning and sustainable urban development in Sri Lanka.
 
VISION
 The overall national goal is to achieve a rational, integrated, comprehensive and orderly development in Sri Lanka by improving the planning, development management, and delivery capacities of the urban centers. This could be achieved only by designing a development oriented hierarchical structure of urban centers with a view to provide full range of institutional, commercial, industrial, and community service facilities which are needed for the productive functioning of urban centers as well as rural service centers, thereby achieving a sustainable balanced growth while conserving the environmental characteristics and improving the quality of life of all inhabitants
 

The main activities of the UDA are
 :: Carrying out integrated planning and physical development
    of declared urban areas.
 :: Formulating and submitting development plans, including
    capital investment plans.
 :: Undertaking the execution of development projects and
    schemes.
 :: Formulating and implementing urban land use policy.
 :: Developing environmental standards and preparing schemes
    for the environmental improvement of urban areas.
 :: Providing technical planning services
