Another two multi storied housing complexes for the low income earning families of the Colombo city will be vested with the people within the next few days by the President.

"Methsara Uyana" and "Sirisara Uyana" housing schemes constructed in Borella for the low income families in the area will be declared open by President Mahinda Rajapakse in the 27th of this month. The two schemes are comprised with 1052 housing unit. The government has planned to construct 70 thousand housing unit for the low income families living in the Colombo city.

"Puradora Sewana" Housing Scheme vested on public

The newly constructed 'Puradora Sewana' Housing Scheme in Orugodawatte, Colombo was ceremonially declared open by the Chief Guest, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (15th September). This project was carried out by the Urban Development Authority.

Opening of the Colombo Gold Center

On Friday the 5th September 2015 at 6.30pm, RE-Developed Colombo Gold Center has declared open by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) proposed to create an exclusive centre for buying gems and jewelry and exchange of gold. The five story building houses 83 gem and jewelry stalls, banks, food courts and an office of the Gem and Jewelry Authority.

OThe exterior appearance of the building has been changed to make it a more unique and refined building within the locality. The Gold Centre has ample parking facilities for gem and jewelry stall owners and buyers.

Gold Centre was formerly known as the Pettah fish market.
