Spatial Database Development for Kuliyapitiya UC Area
The GIS Division of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) is in the process of developing a Spatial Database System for the use at the Kuliyapitiya Urban Council, building up the Spatial Information Infrastructure capacity improving day to day development and monitoring activities of the local authority.

Project :
Preparation of detailed Spatial Information System for the Urban Development areas declared under the UDA Law NWP

Objective :
1. Introduction of GIS/GPS technology and transfer of GIS/GPS knowledge to the Local Authority areas in order to improve the spatial information infrastructure to facilitate activities of the local authorities and preparation of updated maps
2. To introduce an uniform system of spatial data handling
3. To analysis & to forecast future development scenarios
4. To Utilize data for the preparation of Development Plans

Activities :
1. Importance of the use of GIS technology for MC, UC areas. Conduct Technology awareness programs
2. Carry out field surveys for data collection such as road network, buildings, lands information all physical of infrastructure by using Global Positioning System/ and Satellite imagery
3. Design & Create Spatial Database by using GIS Softwares & GPS Technology
4. Preparation of user manuals & training programs for Local Authority staff
